Truck drivers protesting the high cost of diesel fuel -- it topped $5 this summer -- made a noisy splash in Albany back in June, with a caravan of dozens of trucks and other vehicles. But other truckers told the newspaper they were pleased by the support shown by onlookers as they drove through the city. The June protest in Albany brought politicians -- including Gov. David Paterson and then-Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno -- to the Capitol steps to speak to the crowd. Afterward, Bruno even showed off his truck-driving skills.
